Loyola University Chicago is seeking a Metadata & Digital Services Librarian (Position # 8150388) to work at the Health Sciences Library for the Library Health Science Division (Library HSD – 06800A) at the Maywood Campus (which I recently pointed out is not in west suburban Maywood, Illinois but in unincorporated land south of Maywood). This is a full-time position on the Health Science Faculty.

According to Loyola University’s job description, “The MetaData and Digital Services librarian creates metadata to complex levels for library collections in all formats in order to facilitate their discovery and use. Creates records and classifies materials to national and international standards. Performs original, complex and copy cataloging of materials including electronic resources and will ensure the cataloging and discovery of materials. Works independently and collaboratively with the technical services and public services staff and our community to create, maintain and enrich the library’s resource holdings. Creates and maintains authority records to complex levels.”

A M.L.S. or equivalent degree from an A.L.A.-accredited university is a prerequisite, as is two-to-five years of experience in an academic library. Applicants need to fill out the Health Sciences Faculty Registration Form, and must submit a curriculum vitae or resume.

A cover letter is optional. Note this job opening was posted August 28, 2013. They will accept applications until the job is filled. VFP
