Press Release: Fred Hampton Legal Assistance Scholarship Fund Memorial and Fundraiser, December 14

The ‘Fred Hampton’ Memorial Legal Assistance Scholarship Fund’ was introduced by Rev. Jesse Jackson of Operation PUSH and the late Rev. Ralph D. Abernathy of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. The Memorial Fund was created to honor Fred Hampton, an inspirational leader in the black community with aspirations of becoming a lawyer. Fred Hampton dedicated his life toward providing opportunities for those within his community and promoting change.

Each year, our organization selects college-bound individuals who exemplify this principle through community responsibility and dedication to civil duty. Over the course of 43 years we have distributed a total of 150 scholarships. All scholarship recipients have an interest in practicing law. It is our goal to keep this opportunity available for our passionate young population. Through your in-kind donation we will be able to continue our efforts of promoting education and civic duty among our youth.

This year’s ‘Fred Hampton Memorial Legal Assistance Scholarship Fund’ Memorial and Fundraiser will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 4pm at Proviso Baptist Church, located at 1116 S. 5th Avenue, Maywood, IL 60153. It is our greatest desire that you attend and enjoy this great evening as we also celebrate the life of Fred Hampton. Thank you in advance for your support. All contributions are tax-deductible.
