David Brown gets three life terms for the murder of his 81-year-old aunt in La Grange Park.

A 51-year-old Maywood man has been sentenced to three life terms in prison for the 2009 murder of his 81-year-old aunt in La Grange Park, La Grange Park police said Wednesday.

Authorities said David Brown assaulted his aunt, Gertrude Franklin, inside of her home in the 1000 block of Barnsdale Road on October 29, 2009. Franklin died of injuries from the beating on November 12, 2009.

Brown, who was convicted Nov. 15 of 13 charges, including six counts of first-degree murder, was also sentenced for possession of a stolen vehicle used during the offense, according to a news release from the La Grange Park Police Department.

Brown, who was on parole at the time of the offense, has been in custody since his arrest. Police said he was stopped by an officer for erratic driving near his aunt’s home.

LaGrange Park Police Chief Daniel McCollum commended LaGrange Park officers for their efforts in apprehending the dangerous criminal and the State’s Attorney’s Office for putting a “strong case together” in a statement. He also praised the Illinois State Police for their diligence in processing the crime scene for essential physical evidence.
