Carothers Lands Rev. Clay Evans Endorsement

January 13, 2014, CHICAGO — Ike Carothers receives a major endorsement from influential evangelist and civil rights leader Reverend Clay Evans. “I have known Ike Carothers for many years and his commitment to helping people in his ward is unconditional,” Evans said. He cited Luke 6:37: “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.” The evangelist and civil rights leader founded the Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago in 1958. In 1971, he was the founding national board chairman of Operation PUSH (People United to Save Humanity–later changed to People United to Serve Humanity).
West Suburban Mayors and Elected Officials to Announce Endorsement of First District Cook County Commissioner Candidate Richard Boykin on February 6

February 4, 2014, Oak Park, IL – West suburban mayors and elected officials will gather on February 6 to announce their official endorsement of Richard Boykin, candidate for Cook County Commissioner of the First District at Meal of the Day Café (1701 S. First Ave) in Maywood at 2:30 p.m. Boykin, an ordained minister and partner with Barnes and Thornburg, LLP, previously served as chief of staff to Congressman Danny Davis for nine years after being his legislative director. During that time, Boykin played an instrumental role in driving several of the Congressman’s initiatives including welfare-to-work programs, health care reform, energy and utility services, and appropriations accomplishments.
“The core focus of my campaign is to ensure that the residents of Cook County’s First District have the resources they need to thrive including supports for growing small businesses and expanded medical and mental health services,” said Boykin. “With generous support from the West suburban mayors and elected officials we can see this vision come to pass.”
The following West suburban mayors and elected officials have endorsed Boykin’s campaign for the First District Cook County Board seat:

Bellwood Mayor Frank Pasquale noted, “Richard Boykin is a hard-working public servant who is knowledgeable, professional and highly respected by his peers.”
On the heels of securing endorsements from West suburban mayors and elected officials, the Independent Voters of Illinois – Independent Precinct Organization (IVI-IPO), a not-for-profit, multi-partisan, independent political organization also has issued its support to Boykin’s race.
IVI-IPO’s mission is to achieve social justice through good government by increasing voter participation and knowledge, by providing a framework for candidate evaluation, and by electing responsive government officials.
