The following release was issued by the campaign of Antonio “Tony” Favela, a candidate for State Representative in the 77th District.
Melrose Park–The Illinois Federation of Teachers (IFT) has endorsed Antonio “Tony” Favela (D-Illinois) as he seeks his first term in the Illinois General Assembly as State Representative of the 77th District. The district includes portions of Addison, Bellwood, Bensenville, Franklin Park, Maywood, Melrose Park, Northlake, O’Hare Airport, Stone Park and Wood Dale.
The IFT is a statewide organization of over 103,000 teachers, educational workers, state employees and dental hygienists throughout Illinois. The organization is dedicated to providing quality education and public services for Illinois students and citizens. Locally, the IFT has also endorsed State Senator Don Harmon, who also represents the 77th District.
“One of the most important priorities of our campaign is to make an impact on public education. Schools are the anchor of every community. When you invest in improving education and work to find solutions to the problems facing the system, the entire community benefits,” said Favela. “I would like to thank the IFT for their vote of confidence and pledge to work with educators and parents to make sure their voices are heard in Springfield.”
Antonio “Tony” Favela, a former teacher and law school graduate, not only looks to do what’s best for students, parents and teachers, but also looks to find solutions that are legal and constitutional. VFP
