Quick News: District 89 Releases Presentation on Recent Move To Middle School Format

District 89, which recently voted on a new grade configuration for its schools–from a K-8 format to a K-5, 6-8 format–has released a PowerPoint presentation on its website detailing the reasons for, and benefits of, the transition. Among those cited include: “Increased student achievement and better preparation for high school (PMSA and IMSA)”; “Consolidation of staff for better articulation of curriculum that will develop specialists in content areas and adolescent instruction and needs”; and the promotion of a “‘small school’ concept” to facilitate greater “team building and activities.” You can access the presentation in full by clicking on the image below. A full, in-depth report on this development will be published soon. VFP
