The date of the 26th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Awards Luncheon is just around the corner. This special event fundraiser is entitled “Embracing The Legacy of His Dream”, and takes place on Saturday, April 5, 2014. It well commemorate Dr. King’s life and the ultimate sacrifice that took place on April 4, 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee. The program will highlight 12 living history makers, volunteers and youth who were influenced by his mission of achievement, goodwill and social change. The afternoon will include great entertainment, excellent food and an exciting raffle.
The keynote speaker is Reverend Michael Wright, Senior Pastor of the Reunited Missionary Baptist Church, Chicago; and Resident Pastor of Light of Liberty Church of Oak Park, Illinois. He is also a Freshman Baseball Coach at Proviso East High School, and is continuing his education at Harvard University. Two youth will share merit incentive awards; and the entertainment will include vocalists Rosemary Phillips, Gregory Parker; and the Sanctified Disciples Youth Drum Line.
