On Monday, May 5, 2014, 12:00 PM, at 1413 South 16th Avenue, Maywood, Illinois Mayor Edwina Perkins; the Maywood Board of Trustees; Cook County Recorder of Deeds Karen Yarbrough; State Senator Kimberly Lightford; State Representative Chris Welch; Attorney Richard Boykin; Congressman Danny K. Davis; Marshall High School Athletic Director Dorothy Gaters; and other community leaders and village residents will gather at the home where Glenn Anton “Doc” Rivers and his family lived while he was growing up and was a McDonald’s All-American in basketball at Proviso East High School. The group will laud Rivers, not only for his athletic prowess, but for the astute manner in which he has conducted himself during this controversial period attributable to the recent comments of Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling.
