MAYWOOD–Last night at 7:45 PM, Maywood firefighters battled a house fire at 2005 S. 12th Avenue, Maywood Fire Chief Craig Bronaugh said. The fire was in the attic space on the second floor of a two-story single family dwelling. The attic is considered to be a concealed space. The Chief said that the attic fire presented particular dangers, since firefighters have to identify the fire first.
“In this fire, because of the size and layout of the attic, which is a concealed space, firefighters were faced with the threat of finding themselves actually surrounded the fire,” Chief Bronaugh said. “Fortunately, with effective communication and the proper ventilation techniques, firefighters were able to put out this fire while not having been harmed.”
No one was reportedly injured during the fire, which is currently under investigation. VFP
