Ruthie Birt, a longtime Maywoodian and member of the Maywood Senior Club, died yesterday, Tuesday, August 12. Funeral arrangements are still pending and will be announced soon. Ruthie is pictured on the left of this picture with her good friends Ledester Lumpkin and Joyce Bailey.

Cecil King Simpson

Services for Cecil King Simpson (pictured left), the husband of Senita Gillespie Simpson, will be Thursday, August 14, at Living Word Christian Center, 7600 W Roosevelt Rd, Forest Park, IL. The wake will be held from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. The funeral will be held from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM.

Kenney Taylor

The memorial service for Kenney Taylor, the brother of Rheatha Sue Taylor Henry, was held yesterday, Tuesday, August 12,2014, at Wallace Funeral Home in Broadview. Please continue to keep the family in your prayers.

Lois E. White 

The viewing for Lois E. White will be held Thursday August 14, from 3 PM to 8 PM at Wallace Broadview Funeral Home, 2020 W Roosevelt Rd., in Broadview. The visitation will be held Friday, August 15, from 10 AM to 11 AM and the funeral service will be held from 11 AM to 12 PM at Broadview Baptist Church, 2100 S 25th (on the corner of 25th & Roosevelt Rd.) in Broadview, IL.

White was a longtime employee of the Maywood Post Office, from where she retired, and was one of the first black women to become a permanent employee at the Chicago Main Post Office. She is the mother of Maywood Housing Authority and District 89 School Board member Gwaine Diane Williams and the grandmother of Maywood Park District Commissioner Dawn Rone. VFP
