Amazing things happened last weekend at the 2016 USTA National Tumbling Competition in Knoxville, TN. Mr. Ernie’s Flip, Flop, and Fly tumblers took 30 qualifying athletes to compete in the tumbling floor and double mini events.

This elite team, which practices multiple times a week at the tumbling gym in Maywood, earned 15 top 10 places.

Isabella Sommesi and Emmyerie Smith both earned 3rd place in the nation for double mini, and Josiah Smith earned 1st place in the nation in tumbling floor.  Look out for more great things from these amazing athletes in the near future!

They will be holding a pool party on July 24th from 4pm to 7pm at the Fred Hampton Aquatic Center in Maywood.  The $5 ticket price helps the team attend these competitions.

Athletic Konnection and Readers Ignite partner up to Jump Start Reading

We are joining forces to JUMP START READING! Readers Ignite is partnering with Athletic Konnection to connect some of that PASSION for BASKETBALL to a PASSION for READING!

Readers Ignite wants to GIVE a basketball book to EVERY child coming to the BASKETBALL camp with ATHLETIC KONNECTION, starting June 20th. But we NEED your help!

For just about $2500, we can get a basketball book to every child that will be given out. BY the COACHES, and they will DISCUSS the books with their kids during the week! We KNOW that this will help the kids to connect to reading in a whole new way!

That is JUST $2500 to impact the LIVES of 300 kids! Call 630-993-0133 to make a cash donation, or the Paypal link is here. Readers Ignite and Athletic Konnection will also partner to provide free books to participants in the latter’s baseball camp in July and the football camp in August.

Those who accomplish the feat won’t just gain insight, but they could also win a gift card valued at up to $10. The challenge is limited to participants who are at least 17 years old.

The form to enter the challenge can be downloaded below or by clicking here.

“Studies show that adding culturally specific titles to a child’s education can increase GPA up to two letter grades,” note Afriware’s owners. “Stop in to select your own titles or we can make recommendations. Afriware Books has plenty of books for children and teens to choose from!”
