Only a minor injury was reported after a six-vehicle collision at the intersection of 1st Ave. and Washington Blvd. Thursday morning, according to a statement released by the Maywood Fire Department.

In the statement, fire officials noted that the Aug. 11 incident, which they said happened at around 9 a.m., involved no hospital transports. Maywood Fire Chief Craig Bronaugh attributed the collision to faulty traffic signals at the intersection.

“There have been issues with the traffic signals at that intersection for several months now,” Bronaugh said in a recent interview. “I believe the truck driver may have gone through there and not realized that the traffic signals were out at the time. The signals have gone out a little too often in the last six months.”

Bronaugh said the faulty signals may be the state’s responsibility.  VFP
