In the days leading up to Thanksgiving, Maywood police have teamed up with local business Try Our Pallets, 37 S. 9th Ave., to hand out 10 free turkeys to community members in need.

Maywood Chief Valdimir Talley and Community Policing Officer Pirsia Allen were on hand to deliver the birds, which were donated to numerous churches in the area.

“We hope to give out some more turkeys to other families in need,” Allen said, adding that there’s a limited supply still available.

“We’ll be passing them out until they’re gone,” he said. “We just want to make people’s Thanksgiving a little better. So, if someone is in need and they want a turkey, they should reach out to us.”

Allen said that anyone who needs a turkey should contact him at the department’s community service number — (708) 450-4409. VFP
