Chicago Bulls point guard Rajon Rondo, who has been with the organization since last July, may have been missing on the hardwood at the Madhouse on Madison for the Bulls’ last several games, but that doesn’t mean he’s been inactive.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Rondo has been playing pickup games at another court near Madison Street — inside of Irving Middle School, 805 S. 17th Ave., in Maywood.

“The pickup games there don’t feature full NBA talent but enough to interest Rajon Rondo, who said he occasionally drags along teammate Isaiah Canaan,” the Tribune’s K.C. Johnson reports.

“Irving,” Johnson writes, “is where Rondo has been plying his trade beyond Bulls‘ practices to simulate the game shape he hadn’t needed after getting benched for 5 1/2 games by an organization that promised him the starting point guard job last July.”

  1. This is great for our kids to have a professional Basketball use the facility that our kids use everyday. The kids can use this as a proud moment. The kids need something to be proud of with all the negative stuff going on around them. Our kids don’t know Maywood history, that is so close to them presently. Maywood just had a young man name Javon Carter that plays for West Virginia who just upset the number one rank team Baylor. Mr. Carter will go down in history at West Virginia for the team performance. Mr. Carter attended Lexington grade school and was a two time champion and played for Proviso East and went downstate two years in a row. Maywood has another BB player who attended Valparaiso, his name is Keith Carter. Mr. Keith was runner up in the NIT, BUT HIS INJURY stop him from win it all. Keith also attended lexington grade school and won a championship and attended Proviso East where he went downstate. These young players is great role models for the young kids. Sterlin Brown is presently attending SMU, and he also attend Lexington and Proviso East. Sterlin was a champion at lexington grade school. These guys are great role models for our kids, lets support them. district 89&209.
