A raid conducted by Maywood police at around 12:30 p.m. on Monday ended with one man arrested and numerous assets seized, police said.

Maywood Police Det. Dennis Diaz, the head of the tactical unit that conducted the raid, said that officers recovered a handgun, 20 grams of raw cocaine, six grams of raw heroin, 100 grams of cannabis and 50 grams of ecstasy inside an apartment at multi-unit building on the corner of 5th Ave. and Quincy St. Diaz said police also seized $9,000.

Sherman Lloyd, 28, of Maywood, was arrested. So far, it isn’t known what police charged him with. This report will be updated once that information is retrieved.

Diaz said that the multi-unit apartment building has long been a source of trouble. Last July, law enforcement officials with the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Task Force raided the apartment, which annexes the Pumpkin’s Place restaurant, and arrested two people.

“That apartment is always an areas of concern for us,” Diaz said, before noting that, so far, police haven’t been able to confirm whether or not Lloyd is affiliated with any gang.
