Breaking: Maywood Woman Charged in Fatal Feb. 14 Crash That Killed Siblings

A Maywood resident has been charged in connection to a hit-and-run crash that killed two people on the morning of Feb. 14.

Maywood Police say Janay C. Hatley, 24, was speeding down the 1100 block of South 9th Ave. in a 2004 GMC Envoy at around 3:48 a.m. Tuesday when she struck a People’s Cab vehicle being driven by Martrail Shelton, 25.

Shelton was picking up his sister, Charlaine Shelton, 22, in order to take her to work when the accident happened. Both victims were rushed to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where they were pronounced dead.

Hatley faces two counts of aggravated DUI/accidental death and two counts of reckless homicide. She’s scheduled to appear in court on Friday, Feb. 17, at 9 a.m. VFP

  1. I am glad that Hatley is being charged with the fatal February 14th crash. Remember, all suspects are innocent until proven guilty, by the court of law. I pray that justice will finally be served.
