We’re proud to announce that this month, the Village Free Press will go into print. We’re proud to partner with Wednesday Journal Inc. on this venture.

Our first foray into the world of paper will be as a monthly publication that will have an initial distribution of 2,000 copies circulated exclusively throughout high-visibility commercial strips in Maywood, such as Lake St., Fifth Ave., First Ave. and Roosevelt Rd., among others.

The first copies will go out on Thursday, March 23, following a brief, informal launch ceremony at 4 p.m. at the Maywood Public Library, 121 S. 5th Ave., in Maywood. This event will also serve as a fundraiser to help us sustain this publication over the long-term.

We’ll be asking community stakeholders to invest a portion of your resources, energy and money to helping us sustain this endeavor.

At minimum, it takes $2,000 per month to keep this project going. That minimum (barely) covers the cost of printing, layout design, distribution, content production and sales, among other costs. We hope you can contribute to keeping Maywood and the surrounding communities informed.

Subsequent editions of the Village Free Press monthly will go out every third Wednesday of each month. Drop-off locations are still being determined.

If you want to advertise your business, organization or cause with us (either in print, online or both), take a look at our media guide below. Contact Dawn Ferencak, our advertising representative, for more info: (708) 613-3329. VFP

  1. Congratulations, Michael! You’re absolutely doing it. The Village Free Press is going to be a void that was left from the Maywood Herald newspaper. And, you are partnering with the Wednesday Journal too. That is absolutely amazing!
