Former Melrose Park police detective Gregory Salvi, 43, has “pleaded guilty to one count each of possession of drugs with intent to deliver and using a gun in a drug trafficking crime,” according to a April 25 Chicago Tribune report.

According to an April 25 Chicago Sun-Times report, Salvi “has recently been selling cars for a living. But Tuesday, he pleaded guilty to possession of more than 500 grams of cocaine with intent to distribute, and carrying a Glock .45 caliber handgun while doing so. Now, Salvi faces at least 10 years in prison. U.S. District Judge Amy St. Eve is scheduled to hand down his sentence July 26.”

The guilty plea comes two years after Salvi was arrested and charged with everything from stealing cocaine from the evidence room of the Melrose Park police station to planning to steal drugs from a state lab.

  1. Wow! This is absolutely insane! I never knew that there was some corruption in the Melrose Park police department. Let this be a lesson that if a police officer think they are above the law…they are wrong! You will definitely suffer the consequences. I am hoping that there will be some major reform in the police department.

      1. CHEVEY: I am not holding my breath. I am really not that surprise how corrupt the Melrose Park police department are. I have read many articles of no accountability, and former police officers had to file a lawsuit. Like I said…I hope that there will be major reforms to fix this police department.

  2. That’s just one bad apple in the Melrose Park “police Department ” the whole barrel is corrupt. And your president say’s he “loves” law enforcement.

  3. Another case of above the law, how many minority’s are behind bars on “Trumped” up charges because of a rouge cop like this one ?
