A Broadview woman is dead after what appears to have been a murder-suicide that happened at around 4:11 a.m. on the Chicago Skyway on June 21, according to a Chicago Sun-Times report.

Lisa Fischer, 49, of the 2100 block of South 25th Avenue, was in a maroon Chrysler (the Chicago Tribune reports) with Christopher M. Pena, 30, of Chicago, ” heading east on the Skyway near the Toll Plaza at 88th Street [she] got out of the vehicle.”

Pena “then got out of the still-moving vehicle and fired shots at Fischer, striking her multiple times, authorities said. The vehicle then crashed into the concrete wall dividing the inbound and outbound Skyway just west of the plaza.”

While heading back to the vehicle, and with police officers yelling for him to stop, Pena shot himself in the head, the Sun-Times reports.

According to the Tribune report, “The Skyway was closed east of the Dan Ryan Expressway until around 9:30 a.m., police said.”
