A Savers warehouse in Bellwood is scheduled to close at the end of this month, which will result in 23 workers losing their jobs, according to a July 10 Chicago Tribune report that cites a company spokeswoman. The facility is located at 4700 W. Proviso Drive.
Savers, a national thrift store chain based in Bellevue, Wash., is also closing a store in Chicago, which could result in nearly 60 layoffs, the Chicago Tribune reports.
According to information provided to the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, the layoffs will take effect on August 28.
Companies that employ at least 75 workers are required by state law to notify the state “60 days in advance of plant closings or mass layoffs, which are defined as layoffs that affect at least a third of a company’s workforce, or at least 250 workers for a company of any size,” the Tribune reports.
