Two Men Arrested During Raid in Maywood on Sept. 16

Two men were arrested in a raid that happened Saturday, Sept. 16 in Maywood, according to Maywood police.

After obtaining a search warrant, members of Maywood’s tactical unit conducted a raid at 619 S. 4th Ave., where 29-year-old Cordell Brown lives.

According to Lt. Dennis Diaz, Brown was suspected of dealing drugs out of the home. The raid occurred after police had conducted an investigation into Brown’s activities, he said.

Diaz said that Brown was on parole for robbery and was found in possession of a loaded 45 semi-automatic handgun.

Calvin Evans, who had a warrant out of Grundy County for failure to make a court appearance, was also arrested. Diaz said that Evans’ address, age or charges weren’t immediately available.

Brown was charged with unlawful possession of of a weapon by a felon and aggravated possession of a firearm. Brown’s bond was set at $250,000. His next court date is Sept. 19. VFP
