Bellwood Library Board Hires New Lawyer

Thursday, September 28, 2017 || By Local News Curator || @maywoodnews

During a Sept. 12 regular meeting, Bellwood Public Library board members voted 5 to 1 to replace the Homewood-based Stuttley Group with Schaumburg-based attorney Dalal Jarad as their legal representation. Board member Mary Clements voted against the measure.

At that meeting, the library board also experienced a change in leadership and gained two newly appointed members Rev. Michael Horton, a former library board member, and Gloria Ward.

Dorothy Clark-Smith, Deborah Giles and Connie Riales — all of whom ran on the Bellwood Dream Team Party slate in April — were elected the library board’s president, vice president and secretary, respectively.

In June 2015, Jarad was removed by the Maywood Park District board and replaced with a Maywood-based personal injury attorney, Steven A. Hinton, in a move that some board members claimed at the time was not transparent.

  1. Man! The new Bellwood library boards are making some amazing changes for the Bellwood Public Library. It’s too bad that former President Mary Clements voted against the hiring new attorney. Major props to the new library boards! Keep striving higher to make the Bellwood Public Library successful for the citizens of Bellwood.
