Melrose Park Man Charged With Murder After Fatal Stabbing on Sept. 24

A teenager has been charged after stabbing two people, one fatally, in Melrose Park on on Sept. 24, according to multiple reports.

Anthony Segura, 19, was charged on Sept. 28 with murder and attempted murder.

According to a Chicago Sun-Times report, a Melrose Park police spokesperson said that officers were called to a home in the 1500 block of North Roberta Ave. before midnight last Sunday. In the home, they found two people, including Pedro L. Suarez, 62, with stab wounds.

Authorities pronounced Suarez, who lived in the Melrose Park house, dead at the scene, according to the coroner’s office.

This is at least the third fatal stabbing in Proviso Township this month.

On Sept. 24, 32-year-old Daniel Barraza, of Melrose Park, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder after stabbing his ex-girlfriend and their 4-year-old son in her Stone Park home.

And last week, Nestor Soto, 38, was charged with murder after fatally stabbing his brother, Ivens Soto, 25, in Forest Park. Read the Forest Park Review coverage of the murder here. VFP
