Proviso East Homecoming Parade Scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 7

Wednesday, October 4, 2017 || By Michael Romain || @maywoodnews || Updated: 12:11 p.m.

The annual Proviso East Homecoming Parade will take place on Saturday, Oct. 7. Participants will line up at 8 a.m., and the parade will begin at 9 a.m.

Anyone interested in participating should report to color guard coach Rodney Smith the morning of the parade at Winfield Scott Park, located at 19th Ave. and Maywood Dr. in Maywood, where the parade route begins.

From Winfield Scott Park, the procession will head northbound and turn on Washington Blvd., and from there head east to Proviso East, where the Pirates will play their crosstown rivals, the Proviso West Panthers, at 11 a.m. (sophomore game) and 1 p.m. (varsity game).

Any alumni interested in tailgating can express that interest in the comments of the event page here.

Reunion classes can reserve a section for tailgating by submitting the class year and the number of classmates attending. If your class want to march together in the parade please submit the total amount of classmates participating. Panther alumni are welcomed to march and tailgate as well. VFP

Correction: A previous version of this post incorrectly noted that Rodney Smith is a District 209 board member. This post has since been updated. VFP regrets the error.

  1. Thank you Michael for spreading the word about the Proviso East Homecoming Parade this Saturday. I hope that it will be a huge turnout and everyone in the Proviso Township community can come out and support our children. This is so important to the children at Proviso East, Proviso West, and PMSA, and also to the alumni’s as well. Looking forward to the parade and the football game.
