No Injuries Reported in Oct. 8 Maywood House Fire

On Oct. 8, firefighters from Maywood and surrounding communities responded to a structure fire at a house on the 1800 block of S. 21st Ave. in Maywood. Fire departments received reports of the fire at around 6:37 p.m. on Sunday.

“Though there were occupants home at the time of the fire, everyone made it out safely and there were no reports of injuries,” said Maywood Fire Chief Craig Bronaugh.

Emergency personnel from Bellwood, Hillside, River Grove and Stone Park responded to the fire, according to a report on

Bronaugh said that the fire was caused by an accident but declined to go into detail about the circumstances. He said that the family has been displaced.

“We offered them Red Cross, but they said that the insurance company was putting them up in a hotel for the night,” the chief said. VFP
