Our campaign committee, My Maywood, firmly embraces the belief that elected village officials should be effective leaders in our municipal government. Therefore, we are asking that you support Dr. Mary “May” Larry, Nathan Lee and Dr. Wanda J. Evans-Brewer for village of Maywood trustees.
We are committed to working hard to improve the quality of life for all residents of our city and know we can make a significant difference protecting the integrity of our citizens. As trustees, we will work tirelessly to move Maywood forward as a working community with a new beginning.
Maywoodians, we personally feel your pain and see your disappointment. Let’s begin to rebuild our community of Maywood, block by block.
Dr. Larry’s life-long, personal sacrifice, commitment and dedication to community service and business as well as faith-based and grassroots organizations is proven. Here are just a few reasons Maywood residents are supporting My Maywood’s campaign:
- Creating and enhancing economic development
- Creating job growth and jobs training
- Protecting residents from the over pricing / cost of water rates
- Ensuring Public safety and crime reduction
- Improving our community and parks
- Protecting the benefits of senior citizens
- Creating college graduate retention opportunities
- Creating business opportunities to lower taxes
- Building public/private partnerships and relations
- Collaborating with the faith-based and grassroot organization with our community
- Ensure integrity and transparency with leadership
Nathan Lee, a business entrepreneur who is the CEO of Nate Comic Inc. and executive director of Maywood-based LBS Program Crop, is compassionate about our Maywood young people because they are the future.
One of Nathan’s goals for Maywood is to host a speed networking event where young people can get together and make connections around the causes they care about. He also wants to facilitate meet-ups for those who want to work on issues together or start a social group to open up discussions around the topics where people can speak freely with those they’ve connected with.
Dr. Wanda J. Evans-Brewer, a professor, author and global instructor who has traveled to Africa three times in one year, has provided education, humanitarian aid and academic assistance to villages in South Africa, Uganda and Tanzania.
A 30-year educator, she has been active in the fight for improved wages for contingent faculty and has been the focus of two documentaries. Besides being a published author, she hosts a successful internet radio program called “Beyond The Surface Radio,” which is intelligent internet radio laced with street reality and good ole’ fashion wisdom.
Your full-tendered support is crucial to the economic growth and improvement of the Maywood community. VFP
