Man Charged With 1st Degree Murder For Fatal 2017 Maywood Shooting

One person has been charged with murder in connection to the fatal shooting of a Maywood man in 2017.

Jeramie Embry, 32, of Maywood, was charged with 1st degree murder on Jan. 23, in connection to the killing of Anthony Morris, 37, on Dec. 19, 2017.

The incident happened inside of Maywood Grocery, 1115 Madison St. in Maywood. Police were dispatched to the store at around 11:03 a.m., when they discovered Morris and a woman wounded inside.

Morris was transported to Loyola Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The woman survived.

“After an extensive yearlong investigation, Maywood investigators were able to arrest and charge Jeramie Embry in connection with the murder,” said Maywood Police Lt. Dennis Diaz in a statement released Jan. 23. VFP
