Maywood Resident Appointed To Western Illinois University’s Board Of Trustees

Gov. JB Pritzker has announced his appointments to the Board of Trustees for Western Illinois University in Macomb and a Maywood resident, and Western alum, is among them.

Kisha Lang, who served as an assistant principal at Proviso East High School from 2011 to 2014, is among seven appointees that Pritzker announced. The appointments still need to be confirmed by the Illinois Senate.

“The new board will focus its efforts on revitalizing WIU’s student recruitment and outreach efforts, focusing investments on core programs, burnishing the university’s reputation and brand throughout the state, and strengthening relationships with its surrounding communities,” according to the statement that Pritzker’s office released on March 28.

Since 2014, Lang has been principal of Bridgescape Learning Academy’s Humboldt Park campus, according to the statement. Before her tenure at Proviso East, she was was dean of students and turnaround administrators at three Chicago Public Schools, including Thurgood Marshall Middle School, Harper High School and Orr Academy High School.

Lang is currently on course to complete her doctorate in educational leadership and management from Capella University by May. She has a master of arts from Concordia University and a bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University. VFP
