Two men were injured in two separate shootings that happened in Maywood on April 13, according to Maywood Police officials.

Opter Johnson, 33, was shot in his lower extremities during a shooting that happened just after 11 p.m. on the 1200 block of S. 17th Ave. in Maywood.

Lamar Johnson, 35, and unrelated to Opter, was shot in his upper left leg during a separate shooting that happened around the same time in the 1500 block of S. Maywood Drive in Maywood, Maywood Det. Dennis Diaz said.

Both men were taken to Loyola University Medical Center. Diaz said that, as of Sunday morning, both men were in surgery, but are expected to survive, he said.

When asked if the shootings were related, Diaz explained that both shootings are currently under investigation.

“Right now, we’re still piecing things together, so I can’t say if they were or were not related,” he said. VFP
