Share your ideas for how Maywood can grow creatively
On Wednesday, July 17, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Maywood Fine Arts’ Stairway to the Stars, Proviso Partners for Health will host a visioning session focused on creative spaces for our local health and wellness entrepreneurs. Share your ideas for Maywood enterprises that grow our local economy and benefit residents.

Support D209’s STEAM Scholars
On Thursday, July 18, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at Proviso West High School, 4701 N. Harrison St. in Hillside, Proviso Township High Schools’ STEAM Scholars will showcase companies and lotions they designed during the district’s STEAM Summer program.
We have several big vendors lined up along with community members who will help judge the products and businesses the students created. In addition, all participants who come to the event will be given Proviso Bucks that they can give to the team they feel has the best product.
Experience truth, prayer, worship and the Word
Starting on Friday, July 19, 7 p.m., at Eisenhower Tower, 1701 S. 1st Ave. in Maywood, Elder Pirsia Allen, Mary “May” Larry and Nathan Lee will present Truth and Fire Prayer, Worship and the Word. Take advantage of a FREE baseball camp
On Saturday, July 20 through Sunday, July 21, at Proviso East High School, 807 S. 1st Ave. in Maywood, Athletic Konnection will host a FREE baseball camp for young people ages 4 to 13 years old. Camp for kids ages 4 to 7 will be held from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., while camp for young people ages 8 to 13 years old will be from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Bring glove and water bottle. All players get a t-shirt.
Attend Broadview Park District’s annual block party
On Saturday, July 20, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., at the Broadview Park District, 2600 S. 13th Ave. in Broadview, the park district will host its Annual Music in the Park and Block Party featuring a petting zoo, games, live DJ, free food and more. Live music 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Enter an ice cream eating contest
On Sunday, July 21, 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Brown Cow, 7347 Madison St. in Forest Park, the ice cream parlor will host its Annual Trough Eating Contest. Gather your team of three and make your mark in ice cream history. A trough contains 21 scoops of delicious Brown Cow ice cream.
The contest is open to US residents 14 years of age and older. For contest rules and entry form visit: https://bit.ly/2GavOxV. Forms must be submitted by 11 p.m. on Friday, July 19.
Gain awareness at autism event
On Sunday, July 21, 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at the Redstone American Grill, 13 Lincoln Center in Oakbrook Terrace, the Answer Inc. Autism Awareness and Support Agency will host Moms of the Midwest — an annual event specifically for special needs moms, caregivers, supporters and friends.
