A Melrose Park man was fatally struck by an SUV while walking on Aug. 8, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Michael Rishikovsky, 69, was struck on the 8300 block of North Avenue in Melrose Park, according to the examiner’s office. He was pronounced dead at 11:34 p.m. The examiner’s office concluded that Rishikovsky died from multiple injuries.
A spokesman from the Melrose Park Police department could not be contacted on Sunday evening.
According to a Chicago Sun-Times report, Rishikovsky “was a resident of an assisted living center and had signed out to go walking shortly before he was hit,” a Melrose Park spokesperson said. “He had free reign to do so, and did not have dementia or Alzheimer’s.”
The Sun-Times reported that the driver of the vehicle “was older than Rishikovsky, stopped at the scene and told officers he felt ‘horrible’ about the crash, Mack said. Officers did not arrest him, and decided not to issue a ticket.” VFP
