A year after it was forced to close for structural repairs, Caribe Hand Car Wash, 320 Lake St., is back in business.
Caribe’s owner, Paco Yanez, said on Sept. 5 that his business has been back operating for a month now.
“We were closed for one whole year,” said Yanez, who started the car wash 21 years ago after migrating to America from another country.
On June 9, 2018, the overhead doors near the wash bays collapsed. No one was injured. A white brick wall now separates the two overhead doors.
Outside of that, not much has changed at the popular establishment, where a line of cars would snake around the block when it was at its peak. Yanez said that the business is slowly building back up to where it was before the closure.
“Business picks up a little more everyday,” he said. VFP
