The Family Dollar located at 1607 W. Roosevelt Rd. in Broadview is now permanently closed, according to Broadview village officials.
During a regular board meeting on Sept. 3, Trustee Verina Horne, who heads up the Building and Public Property Committee, confirmed that the store had closed.
“Dollar Tree owns Family Dollar,” Horne said. “Their brand is dwindling. It’s hard for them to compete with businesses such as Target, Walmart — Amazon is killing everybody. So, they’re gone.”
Foursquare.com also has the location listed as permanently closed. No word yet on exactly when the store closed.
When she announced that Family Dollar had closed, Horne also announced that Checkers, the fast food chain also located on Roosevelt Road, had also recently closed. Horne said “internal” issues within the company were why Checkers closed. VFP
