The Village of Bellwood Board of Trustees voted unanimously on Sept. 18 to support granting Class 6(b) property tax incentives to a hat manufacturer and a food production business that wants to buy two properties in the village in order to expand its operations.

During a regular meeting on Aug. 21, the Bellwood Board of Trustees approved a tax incentive for Speedway LLC, which is looking to develop a gas station on 25th Avenue in Bellwood. As part of the incentive, the gas station would temporarily keep the part of the motor fuel tax revenue that would normally go to the village. Once that non-taxable revenue reaches $3.6 million, the village will be able to collect the diesel tax.

During an Aug. 21 meeting, the Bellwood Board of Trustees voted unanimously to allow restaurants that are open after midnight to have video gaming machines. The village had already allowed restaurants that closed by 11 p.m. to apply for video gaming licenses.
