D209 Administrator’s $24K Pay Raise Prompts Worker Backlash

During a July 16 regular meeting, the Proviso Township High Schools District 209 Board of Education approved raises and promotions for three high-level administrators, each of whom will assume additional responsibilities. But the raise of one administrator struck a chord with some dissenting board members and lower paid workers.

2 High-Ranking D209 Administrators Resign, 1 May Come Aboard

Two top administrators at Proviso Township High Schools District 209 have resigned recently.

District officials confirmed this week that Dr. Kim Waller-Echols, the district’s assistant superintendent of human resources, and Todd Drafall, the district’s chief financial officer, have both submitted letters of resignation.

Fight Near Maywood School Prompts Safety Concerns

Featured image: A 2013 fight at Proviso East that resulted in at least 10 arrests. Since community measures have been implemented, no fight as big as that one has happened near the school. 

A large brawl, possibly involving dozens of people, which happened in Maywood in January and resulted in the arrest of three Proviso East students, has prompted concern from community members and Maywood government officials.
